Here is a list of the various veteran organizations that participate with the Craven County Veteran's Council
Friends of the Council
In addition to Veteran's Organizations, we have invited various other organizations to join us as Friends of the Council, in order to better share resources, and cross-promote events and programs that are of benefit to veterans in Craven County, North Carolina.
Craven County Veterans Council (CCVC) recognized that there were several organizations across Craven county, that may not meet the criteria of a “veteran’s organization”, as it’s defined in our By-Laws. As such, these organizations could not join the Council, in an official member capacity. However, the Council also recognizes that there are several “non-veteran organizations” within the county, whose role/purpose is to provide support to our local active duty and/or veterans of the United States Armed Forces. We also recognized that some of these organizations would be of value to the Council, by their attendance and participation.
As a result, in September 2016, the Council voted to amend the CCVC By-Laws to allow “selected” organizations to join as “Friends of the Council”. These “Friends of the Council” members may
- attend monthly Council meetings;
- participate in ongoing discussions;
- bring forth veteran issues/activities to be discussed during the Council meetings; and
- as appropriate, participate in associated functions held by the Council and/or other constituent organizations
“Friends of the Council” member may not however, hold any office or committee position or having voting rights.
The following list of organizations were identified as a respected organization within the County, and whose partnership with the Craven County Veteran’s Council would be of great value.
The Council meets on the second (2nd) Monday of each month at 7pm, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2514, in New Bern. If you have any questions regarding this partnership or believe that your organization would be of mutual benefit by becoming a Friend of the Council, please feel free contact CCVC.
